Recently, the drilling company introduced a series of measures to inspire labor competition, calling it, “Seize the initiative, hard work in the first half year.”  This was designed to assure the successful achievement of monthly and annual goals and to refine the management system while playing an important role in promoting drilling production operation. As a result, on May 22, the drilling company set the highest completed drilling record this year of 3275m.

Planning and Implementation

Traditionally, the best production time is in May.  Therefore, the drilling company makes new plans based on actual situations, careful analysis of each specific project, and each of the drilling crews prepares their monthly and weekly production schedules. In order to implement their plans, the production and operation department designs and makes the production schedule and posts the progress for each project.  This provides a scientific basis by which the leaders can analyze each project, thus understanding any potential obstacles, immediately providing solutions and guidance in order to continually improve its overall capabilities.

To help the drilling company complete its weekly production tasks, the production department and the related departments pay special attention to any developing affairs, ensuring logistics ample time to react and to supply their needs. Every Friday, the drilling company is informed of each project’s conditions of production and teams who are doing well are then rewarded.

Work Orders and Labor Scheduling

In order to fully mobilize the enthusiasm of the frontline staff for production, and to promote the “Seize the initiative, hard work in the first half year” team competition further, the drilling company is taking bold initiatives.  Adequate labor scheduling means taking a team as a unit, with the normal working hours as the basic unit of labor, and then determining the total time to complete their tasks.  The drilling platform managers distribute the production work in pre-shift meetings to further define the specific content, the work standard and attentions.  Meanwhile, detailed arrangements are made for the supporting work, then for the inspection and review once the work is completed. The assessment results are then linked directly to individual salaries, rewarding or punishing based on the results. The implementation of this scheduling system further improves the company’s business management system.  This assessment greatly stimulates the enthusiasm and initiative of the staff, as they try their best to excel, resulting in numerous reports of good news.
