2023-02-06

On February 1, 2023, Mr. Ye Jifeng, the Senior Vice President of ZPEC Group, and Mr. Orkhan Guliyev, the General Manager of BP Rumaila Oilfield, and other senior leaders held a meeting in Dubai to summarize the experience and deficiencies in the implementation of the two past Iraqi projects, and reached a consensus on the next steps of deepening cooperation .

Mr. Orkhan Guliyev praised ZPEC as an excellent and reliable drilling contractor, affirmed the performances of ZPEC’s Iraqi Team in the Rumaila Oilfield, and thanked ZPEC for its contribution to the development of the Rumaila Oilfield. He pointed out that looking back on the cooperation in the past few years, there were many good experiences that needed to be maintained and he also put forward guiding suggestions for the problems during the cooperation. He said that the Rumaila Oilfield had a large goal of increasing production in the future and hoped to have more long-term cooperation with ZPEC.

Mr. Ye Jifeng expressed thanks for BP’s support and assistance during the past three years in the Rumaila Oilfield and answered all the questions raised by BP. He said that ZPEC had the confidence and ability to complete subsequent operations.

The two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges on further cooperation. At present, ZPEC is about to carry out the third phase of 30 well contract operations in the Rumaila Oilfield and two rigs daily operation. Both parties believed that ZPEC and BP will have a very healthy and long-term cooperation in future.

In October 2018, ZPEC started its cooperation with BP in the Rumaila Oilfield. The First Phase Project was 11 wells and the ZPEC Team gave full play to the advantages of integration while completing all of the operation tasks excellently. In the oil field construction competition, ZPEC won first place for its 9 5/8” cementing quality.

Beginning in July 2021, ZPEC started the Second-Phase Turnkey operation for 25 wells, with 23 wells having been completed so far. The ZPEC Team conducted a targeted analysis of the Daman and Harth leakages and developed a set of unique cement slurry plugging technologies, which greatly increased the plugging success rate and drilling efficiency. Among them, during the drilling of Well R747, the largest horizontal displacement well in the Oilfield with a maximum horizontal displacement is 1,244 meters, they optimized drilling parameters and adjusted mud performance and other measures, enabling the well to be completed in 48.94 days, setting a new operational record of this type of well in the Oilfield.
