ZPEC Rig 11 Takes First Among 17 Drilling Teams

At 22:01 on September 30, 2021, in the Aihu Oilfield competition, where 17 drilling teams participated at the same time, ZPEC Rig 11 took the lead in completing the drilling with an excellent performance of 3 days in advance of the designed period, presenting a gift for the 72nd anniversary of the National Day. Once again, ZPEC Rig 11 won high praise from Party A with its strength.

The AHHW 2047 Well in Block Aihu 2 of the Mahu Oilfield in the Junggar Basin, which was drilled by the team, is a horizontal well with a completion depth of 5,192 meters and a completion period of 45.95 days. This is the first time that each drilling team has carried out drilling operations in this block. After the drilling battle began, in the face of simultaneous relocation, consistent well depths, and similar geological conditions, 17 well teams from brother companies such as Western Drilling Company, Karamay Drilling Company, Xinjiang Beiken, and other units secretly competed, with no one wanting to be left behind.
In order to increase the speed of moving, Mr. Wang Debao, ZPEC Rig 11 Rig Manager, and Mr. Zhu Lanxin, Deputy Manager, took command of the new and old well sites respectively. They overcame difficulties such as a small number of personnel and harsh environments, and ensured that the drilling spudded on time. They were awarded by the ZPEC Mahu Project Department. Since the drilling spudded at 2 a.m. on August 15, 2021, with the strong support of the project department, all the soldiers of the team have worked steadily and actively, and withstood a series of challenges such as the complicated formation of the mudstone section, the easy leakage of the Badaowan Formation, the thin oil layer at the target position, and the fracturing of the adjacent well. Rig 11 Team became the first team to complete drilling among the 17 competitive teams in Block Aihu 2.
Xinjiang Mahu Oilfield is one of the highest-end drilling markets in China. The annual average temperature is 8.4 degrees C, the temperature difference between day and night is large, the windy days average more than 300 per year, and the natural environment is difficult. Beginning in 2018, the four teams of ZPEC Rigs 7, 11, 36, and 37 have moved from the Shaanxi-Gansu-Mongolia market to participate in the raging oil competition. In the past four years, the drilling speed has repeatedly set records and best performance. These teams have always been among the best and the project department and drilling teams have been commended by Party A many times.
