2021-09-14

Recently, ZPEC (Aksu) Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Co., Ltd. received the official letter of "Approval for the Environmental Impact Report on the Production Capacity Construction Project of Wenbei Oilfield Wen 7 in Wensu Block, Xinjiang Tarim Basin" issued by the Department of Ecological Environment of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The environmental impact assessment allows the company to carry out the construction in accordance with the nature, scale, location, process, and various environmental protection measures to be adopted as listed in the "Environmental Impact Report".

The Production Capacity Construction Project of Wenbei Oilfield Wen 7 in Wensu Block, Tarim Basin, Xinjiang is located in the northern part of Wensu County.  With a mineral rights area of 45.8 square kilometers, the yearly production capacity of Wen 7 Block is estimated to be 340,000 tons. The project uses small platform layout and cluster directional wells for development, deploying a total of 21 oil production sites and 189 wells, of which 42 are water injection wells.  Additionally, the project has a new joint station with a crude oil processing capacity of 1 million tons per year, taking into account the processing of Wenbei Oilfield and Hongqipo Oilfield. It is equipped with a new oil pipeline of 50.4 kilometers, a water injection pipeline of 17.4 kilometers, 3 oil transfer stations, 2.58 kilometers of internal and external roads, and 1.53 kilometers of oil production platform branch roads. The project approved by the Department of Ecology and Environment covers an area of 97.15 hectares, of which 36.67 hectares are permanently occupied and 60.48 hectares are temporarily occupied.

After the block’s Environmental Impact Approval (EIA) is obtained, the company can formulate drilling and well commissioning plans based on the Wenbei Oilfield Wen's 7 Block development plan, eliminating the need to conduct individual well EIA one by one, greatly reducing the approval time. At the same time, the company can start the construction of supporting ground projects for Wen 7 Block, improve the efficiency of crude oil gathering and transportation, and reduce operating costs, which will help the company speed up the development progress and oil and gas output of Wen 7 Block. With the further expansion of oil and gas production capacity in this block, it will have a positive impact on the improvement of the company's operating performance and long-term development.
