ZPEC Drilling’s Mahu Project Department and Team 11 Awarded the 2020 Outstanding Contribution Award by Western Drilling Karamay Drilling Company

On November 6th, good news came from Mahu Oilfield. The ZPEC Mahu Project Department and ZPEC Drilling Team 11 were respectively named "Outstanding Contribution Unit in 2020" and "Outstanding Contribution to Speed and Efficiency Improvement” by Party A, Western Drilling Karamay Drilling Company.  They became the only private enterprise team to win this honor among the participating Mahu Oilfield units.

This year, in the context of the late resumption of work due to the epidemic and heavy on-site tasks, the four teams of the ZPEC Mahu Project performed outstandingly. The person in charge of the main positions of the project had to report on the epidemic situation of the personnel that may return to Xinjiang including all aspects of the work involved in advance of the start of production, such as how to get to the well, document inspection and acceptance, production, and living supplies, etc. This effectively ensures that the project well team personnel, as the first batch of the Mahu Oilfield cooperation team, smoothly enter Xinjiang and resume production. As of November 6th, four well teams under the project had zero accidents and uninterrupted stoppages throughout the year. A total of 16 wells were drilled, 14 wells were delivered, and the total footage was 56,911 meters, which surpassed similar data during the same period last year.

ZPEC Drilling Team 11 has intensively cultivated its technical management and production organization. In order to increase the drilling speed, they specifically established a "speed-up" command and research team composed of team captains, technicians, and cadres. They conscientiously organized the connection of each production link of each well and strove to improve the timeliness of production. Before each well was drilled, they investigated the adjacent wells and repeatedly studied the construction plan to promptly report to everyone, thus laying the foundation for the smooth and rapid delivery of the well. During construction, the team strictly implemented technical instructions, implemented various technical measures, assigned responsibilities to each post, and implemented the entire process with comprehensive quality and technical supervision.

The first well drilled this year by Team 11, FNHW4036, achieved good results with a daily footage of more than 1,000 meters. They became the first drilling team with a daily footage of more than 1,000 meters in the Mahu Block and achieved a good start in the subsequent construction of both FNHW4093 and FNHW4035 wells.  They continuously set records of breaking 1,000 meters per day. The fourth well, FNHW4092, through a number of targeted technical improvements, achieved speed and efficiency improvements under the premise of ensuring safety, with an increase of 33.26% compared to the original plan.  The fifth well, FNHW4034, entered construction during the winter and under very difficult conditions. Team 11 used DBS drill bits to drill 1,455 meters through the Badaowan Formation in one trip. The completion of the drilling was 18.63 days ahead of the design date.

The "Iron-blood Spirit" of ZPEC was once again demonstrated in the cold wind of the Mahu Oilfield. ZPEC Team 11 also became the first drilling team with 10,000 meters and 20,000 meters in the Mahu Project this year, and has been highly praised by Western Drilling Karamay Drilling Company.  The honor is hard-won, and the staff of the Mahu Project have expressed that they will continue to work hard in the future, take honor as a new starting point, devote more enthusiasm to the work, and strive to write a more exciting chapter.
