ZPEC Auto Catwalk Successfully Enters European Market

2020-09-23

On September 22nd, the Auto Catwalk, designed and manufactured by ZPEC for European customers, successfully shipped from the Lingang Base. This is the first time that ZPEC’s intelligent equipment has been exported to the European high-end market, and it has also filled the gap in the export of domestic oilfield automation equipment to the European market.

At 11:00 a.m., the Auto Catwalk components were were neat and tidy and loaded on the trucks at the Lingang Base. A banner with "Warmly celebrate the successful delivery of the ZPEC Auto Catwalk to the European market" in Chinese and English was festively displayed on the side of the vehicle. Dozens of people from the Group Headquarters and the Equipment Group participated in the delivery ceremony. At the ceremony, Jing Li, the Sales Director of the Equipment Group, gave a brief explanation on the production and delivery of the products.

KCAD is a well-known drilling contractor in Europe, with more than 100 drilling rigs operating in dozens of countries around the world in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In the first half of this year, the experts of their bidding committee were attracted by this product. There was a lot of work to be clarified and prepared in the final bidding process. The project leaders of this multinational company basically work in German and British companies in Europe and are 6 and 7 hours later than Beijing time. Because of the time difference, the communication between the Chinese technical and business teams and KCAD basically started in the early morning China time. These experts are well-known in the industry for their precision and rigor. In order to completely dispel the doubts of customers, the ZPEC team worked overtime throughout the night to complete all the plans at the end of each meeting.

The Auto Catwalks purchased by customers are mainly used for drilling operations under extreme desert conditions in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, etc. The wind resistance and sealing of the equipment are required to be excellent. After investigation and demonstration, they found that ZPEC products happen to have a strong structure in wind resistance, while the reinforced fully enclosed side panels can also prevent wind and sand.  These features are not available in many companies' products. In addition to the protection of products, European companies’ more requirements are people-oriented. In the bid evaluation, they found that this set of ZPEC’s automation equipment use the "three-location" operation method in oil drilling operations and they can always meet the required needs. The same effect can be performed on-site, remote control and remote, which is not only convenient, but also safer to use.

In order to protect the safety of oil mining personnel, this equipment also uses invisible light curtain technology in its manufacturing. During the operation, the on-site personnel cannot see any light, but abnormal personnel can be identified immediately after entering the on-site invisible light curtain and automatically alarm and suspend work by itself.  Normal work can be resumed after confirming the safety, so as to achieve the purpose of personal safety. At the same time, because this set of equipment is highly intelligent and easy to operate, it can greatly improve work efficiency and save time during operation, which has been unanimously affirmed by experts. Soon, KCAD announced the bid evaluation results in Berlin on the other side of the ocean. China's ZPEC Company officially won the bid, marking the first time that China's Autom Catwalk has won a bid for a German company.

After receiving the official notice of winning the bid, the project was soon launched at ZPEC’s Shanghai Lingang Headquarters. Because the European epidemic has not ended during the manufacturing period, German inspectors could not come to the site, but the inspection process was necessary. In order to ensure the quality of production, remote video tools in the entire production process have played a very important role. In addition to remote inspection, Germany requires that all details and processes of daily production and assembly be sent to the Berlin company in the form of photos and videos in order to prove the reliability of the entire production process. For rigorous German companies, in addition to the quality process, the node schedule is also very important. Although the production is affected to a certain extent under the epidemic, all the production schedules and nodes of ZPEC are fully in line with the requirements of KCAD, and the production is in accordance with German standards. All information was sent to KCAD for inspection and debugging, which fully met the requirements of various technical indicators.

After the delivery ceremony, China’s first set of Auto Catwalks exported to Europe departed from the Port of Shanghai and passed through Dubai to enter the designated construction area. “Germany is a strong manufacturing country. We used to import high-end equipment from Germany and other European countries. However, we exported the high-end equipment made in China. This is the first time similar products of China's own technology are sold to Europe," Jing Li, Marketing Director of ZPEC, proudly told reporters.

The Auto Catwalk is an important component of the Automatic Pipe Processing System. With its strength, ZPEC has designed and produced the third-generation Auto Catwalk with superior performance, safety, reliability, and a higher degree of automation. The rated load of the product is 45KN, the designed height of the table is 9.4 meters, the maximum length of the drilling tool is 14,326mm, the working size is 27.0*8.9m, and the weight is 40,000kg. The trailer meets the maximum 24in diameter pipe operation. The ramp runs smoothly, the end of the catwalk base is equipped with infrared light curtains, and the oil pressure and oil temperature are automatically controlled. The cloud beam and the feeding mechanism are safe and reliable.
