ZPEC Egypt Successfully Completes Ultra-deep Water Well

2020-06-04

Recently, good news came from the Sahara Desert in Egypt. The ultra-deep exploratory well, NBW-01, drilled by ZEPC Egypt, was successfully completed and successfully achieved self-flow. The completion depth was 1,455 meters, which was the deepest single well construction since entering the Egyptian market. The record was highly praised by Party A and the Canal Sugar Company.

The purpose of the well is to research the water reservoirs of the entire desert farm and the connection between the Nile and Nubian waters. The Egyptian company, based on the customer-centric principle, had repeatedly discussed with Party A on how to seal the upper water layer.  Communicating on issues such as all available accurate geological data, how to protect the sandstone water layer, etc., they developed the design plan. During the construction process, despite the complex geological conditions of the new stratum, the loss of limestone and the collapse of shale, and other difficulties and challenges, ZPEC’s Operations Team rose to the challenge. With the support and help of the relevant departments, through active research and successful application of air foam drilling and solid-free drilling fluid in sandstone water layers, a set of drilling technical solutions suitable for the well were developed.  Thus, the smooth construction of the well was effectively guaranteed while protecting the water layer. Up to now, the well has completed its water test operation and all geological and water test data have been collected and submitted to the satisfaction of Party A.

The successful completion of Well NBW-01 provided valuable experience for the drilling and construction of ultra-deep water wells by ZPEC, further enhancing its brand awareness while laying a good foundation for future business expansion.
