REVISED Internal Project Management Training Come to a Happy Termination

On May 22nd, the ceremony of the ZPEC Senior Project Management Seminar, as well as the graduation of ZPEC’s internal Project Management Training, was held at the Lingang Base at Shanghai’s ZPEC Headquarters. While summing up and communicating training results, it also put forward the further requirements for refined project management levels. Group Chairman Li Chundi, President Chen Qingjun, Executive President Zhang Yun, and key personnel from various projects participated in the conference via video or on-site. The meeting was hosted by Zhang Yun. Firstly, Block 10 Project Manager Zhang Chi  spoke as a representative of the trainees. He thanked the group leaders for organizing this four-day training event which provided a platform for project managers and key technical personnel of the project teams to exchange experiences. He also shared the experiences and gains of participating in this training and expressed his desire to work hard to apply what he had learned from the courses to improve his project management skill level. Secondly, Yang Jiayi, the Deputy Manager of the Project Management Center, made a summary speech introducing the planning, launching, implementation, and the highlights and achievements of the training. She expressed that this advanced internal training, which was different to the previous sessions, were all delivered by the persons in charge or experts from each department of the company. The transferring of new knowledge and on-site workshops helped the project managers further enhance their abilities. It included both understanding and knowledge about the scope, i.e., risk control, marketing development, contract management, performance improvement, cost control, personnel localization, and communication skills, etc,. thus providing good guidance significant for their further work.


Last but not least, Group Chairman Li Chundi delivered an important speech. He said that affected by the epidemic and low crude oil prices, the company was now facing a very severe situation. Currently, it is necessary to strengthen refined management and effectively reduce costs and increase efficiency. He put forward guiding suggestions on how to execute fine project management in the whole process of project execution including equipment preparation, rig move and installation, technical parameter optimization, material management, etc., and emphasized accident prevention, while adhering to the ZPEC’s core spirit and value as an “Iron army”. He hoped, under all circumstances, that all personnel would always be committed providing the customers with valuable services by emphasizing credibility, striving for best-in-class quality, strengthening scientific management, concentrating on personnel development, and pursuing technological revolution. He encouraged everyone to see the achievements and the promising future from their temporary difficulties, to improve the courage to overcome the challenges, and to realize greater development of the company via continuous joint efforts.

This training course started on May 19 and lasted for four days. It aimed at realizing effective communication and integration of the whole project management system for detailed discussion of continuous performance improvement by building a bridge of communication between the various departments of the group headquarters and project teams, Unlike the previous courses, the courses are all delivered by the company's internal staff. The heads of different departments, including the Project Management Centre, Operation Management Department, Finance Department, Purchasing and Logistics Center, Engineering Marketing Department, Drilling Fluid Branch, etc. explained in depth the relevant scopes including project management, refined management, material management, contract management, and drilling fluid technology, etc. The key project personnel also actively shared their own experience and discussed the issues such as risk control, cost control, important milestones in project execution and personnel localization, and brought up effective measures and suggestions accordingly to address the issues. This training was warmly welcomed by the trainees because of its creative formality and close connection with the operational practice.
