ZPEC Team 5 Successfully Spuds Water Well for Egypt's Sinai Project

2017-03-08

At midnight on February 28th, after a very long transport, ZPEC Team 5 completed equipment debugging and rectification acceptance, and successfully spudded SW–1 Well, which marks ZPEC’s successful entry into water well drilling the Egyptian Sinai desert.

Team 5’s management and technical teams are choosen from ZPEC in Egypt from the company’s Chinese personnel, while operational personnel are all composed of foreign employees.  On February 18, after being transported more than 700km, through the joint efforts of everyone, the equipment arrived in place on February 22.  With construction proceeding smoothly, the surface work and cementing was completed and the well successfully entered the 12 1/4" hole drilling stage.  Because the formation is difficult and the lower section is easily collapsable, other drilling companies in this block need an average working period of 1.5 to 2 months.  ZPEC used only 7 days to reach 500 meters, utilizing their obvious speed advantage. The project ran smoothly, reflecting the internationalization of ZPEC’s management level and operational results.

Concerning the management of the foreign employees, the Egyptian branch was carefully orchestrated from the early stages of recruitment and training to the production at well-site.  After drilling, the Chinese management and technical teams focused on well production, informing the employees in advance if they would encounter complex strata.  With their mobile phones available 24 hours a day, each node was in good control at key points.  The organization of production materials in advance guaranteed there to be no delays in production, which laid a solid foundation for future success.
