2014-06-03

At 12:00AM local time on May 12th, along with the order of the on-site supervisor, ZPEC Drilling Team Rig 16 spudded Well P05 in the Badra Oilfield in the Wassit Province of Iraq.  This marked ZPEC’s long-awaited entry as an international drilling EPC contractor, serving GPNB Integrated Management Projects.
In the spudding mobilization meeting, ZPEC Vice General Manager Chen Qingjun required all Rig 16 staff to enhance their sense of responsibility, to operate in strict accordance with the rules, to identify early and mitigate possible risks, to put safety as a top priority, and to improve efficiency in the premise of ensuring the safety, in striving for the smooth completion of the first well of GPNB Integrated Management Projects.  GPNB Drilling specialists have been participated in the pre-spud meeting.  They hoped for good cooperation between ZPEC and GPNB and expressed the optimism for ZPEC to complete the P-05 well successfully and  earlier than 325 days.
GPNB Integrated Management Project is a key overseas project of ZPEC Group.  It represents a two-year, "turnkey project" contract signed on October 25, 2013 that includes the drilling crew and all other related engineering services teams to complete the six planned wells in three years.
Due to this being ZPEC’s first international integrated management project, the initial start of the project was very important.  ZPEC was able to take advantage of its strengths of its integration of equipment manufacturer and drilling contractor, completing the commissioning, acceptance and shipping in just a few months.  GPNB visited Shanghai several times in appreciation of the efficient work.
All operations are closely dependent upon the logistic supporting of the project and, with the strong support of the local government and GPNB, ZPEC overcame various difficulties to complete the base camp construction, which laid the foundation for the  whole operation.
On February 15, 2014 the equipment was shipped from Shanghai.  Once the equipment arrived in Iraq, ZPEC actively coordinated between all related parties and mobilized all available resources to ensure arrival of the equipment to the Badra well site.  After the installation, all staff of ZPEC Rig 16 carefully checked every part of equipment, as well as the relevant documents for each piece of equipment.  Their proactive communication with GPNB earned the recognition and support of GPNB.
